Medication Assisted Treatment

Vivitrol (Naltrexone)

Vivitrol is an available option to individuals with substance use disorder with moderate to severe severity according to DSM V criteria. The first phase of the Vivitrol Program focuses on obtaining the optimal dosing of Vivitrol at which the client discontinues or markedly diminishes use of other opioids and alcohol; and experiences no withdrawal symptoms, minimal or no side effects, and no uncontrollable cravings for drugs of abuse. The first phase also focuses on basic recovery skills, including but not limited to: the biopsychosocial aspects of addiction, developing a support system, and recovery planning. The second phase allows clients to work on further enhancing recovery skills including: employment, interpersonal relationships, and advanced relapse prevention. The intensity and frequency of services decreases as the client meets treatment goals over the life of the individualized program. Services consist primarily of therapy, counseling and education about substance related and mental health problems and medication management. This program allows clients to receive essential education and treatment services while allowing them to apply their newly acquired skills in real world environments.

Buprenorphine (Suboxone)

Westbrook Health Services recognizes the growth of the opioid epidemic in the United States and its particular prevalence in the state of West Virginia. In order to effectively treat this problem, Westbrook Health Services offers Buprenorphine as an available option to treat opioid dependence. Westbrook Health Services helps to manage both the short-term and long-term effects of opioid dependence as part of overall treatment; which consists of medication, counseling, attendance at support group meetings, and monitoring to ensure optimal success at building a lifestyle that supports recovery efforts.
