First episode psychosis (fep)

Westbrook Health Services offers an intensive outpatient program specifically designed for individuals aged 14-30 who are experiencing prodromal or active phase psychosis symptoms. This program employs an evidence-based curriculum that can extend up to five years, providing comprehensive support and treatment to help manage and mitigate psychosis symptoms outside of one’s cultural context.

Eligibility Criteria

 

To participate in First Episode Psychosis outpatient service, individuals must meet the following criteria:


- Age range: 14-30 years old.


- Experiencing prodromal or active phase psychosis symptoms.


- Fewer than three psychiatric hospitalizations within the past year.


- Residency in Region 3, covering Wood, Wirt, Ritchie, Calhoun, Tyler, Pleasants, Roane, and Jackson Counties.

Comprehensive Curriculum

First Episode Psychosis outpatient services features an extensive, evidence-based curriculum tailored to address the unique needs of each participant. This curriculum focuses on a holistic approach to treatment, incorporating various therapeutic modalities to enhance the individual's coping mechanisms and overall mental health. The curriculum is designed to be flexible, allowing participants to engage with it for up to five years based on their progress and needs.

Family and Support Program

We understand the crucial role that family and support persons play in the recovery process. Therefore, this program encourages the involvement of family members and support persons through an optional evidence-based curriculum designed specifically for them. This component aims to educate and empower families and support networks, providing them with the tools and knowledge necessary to support their loved ones effectively.

The primary goals of First Episode Psychosis outpatient service are to:
- Reduce the duration and severity of psychosis symptoms.
- Enhance the individual’s ability to function in daily life.
- Provide education and support to both participants and their families.
- Promote long-term recovery and prevent relapse.
