IDD Crisis Response Unit (CRU)

Westbrook Health Services (WHS) is dedicated to serving individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities/Differences (IDD) throughout West Virginia through our specialized Crisis Response Unit (CRU). Our CRU is designed to provide comprehensive support during times of crisis, ensuring that each individual's unique needs are met with care and compassion.

What We Offer
Our Crisis Services include a variety of support options to address different aspects of an individual's well-being. These services can include, but are not limited to:

-Medication Management: Ensuring that medications are properly administered and managed to support the individual's health needs.
-Respite Care: Providing temporary relief for primary caregivers, allowing them to take a break while knowing their loved one is in safe hands.
-Behavioral Support: Addressing behavioral issues with professional support and intervention to help individuals manage and improve their behavior.
Comprehensive Care
The CRU offers a range of services to support individuals during their stay:

-Behavioral Support Services: Tailored interventions and strategies to help individuals manage their behaviors.
-Case Management: Ongoing support to coordinate care, services, and resources that the individual may need.
-Nursing Services: Professional nursing care provided by Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Registered Nurses (RNs) to administer medications and monitor health.
-Direct Care Services: Hands-on support to assist with daily living activities and ensure safety and well-being.
Individuals in the CRU will have access to a healthcare provider, specifically a Nurse Practitioner (NP), twice a week to monitor their progress and adjust care plans as needed. Medications will be administered by either an LPN or RN to ensure proper medical oversight.

Admission and Discharge
Individuals can be admitted to the CRU for a period ranging from 7 days up to a maximum of 30 days. During this time, our dedicated team works diligently to provide the necessary support and intervention. Upon discharge, our Case Management team will assist in securing any additional supports or resources that may be needed. Furthermore, we continue to follow up with individuals for up to a year after discharge to monitor their progress and ensure continuity of care.
